Launch of our We Move Forward Programme

The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust has teamed up with BBC Children in Need to launch We Move Forward, a new programme designed to help young people build confidence, explore their options and take positive steps towards their future.

Launched in September 2026, the six-week programme will support young people aged 16–21 with practical skills and guidance across careers, personal development and wellbeing.

From building a CV and preparing for interviews to understanding money, managing stress and creating a personal action plan, We Move Forward is designed to give young people the tools and confidence they need to take their next step.

The programme is particularly aimed at young people interested in Media & Creative, Tech, Build, Community & Hospitality, and Health & Wellness, giving participants the opportunity to explore different career paths and connect with potential employers.

The programme began with an Introduction Day on 17 September, bringing young people together to learn more about what was ahead and meet the people involved in delivering the programme.

Over the following six weeks, participants will take part in six face-to-face sessions in Hammersmith, as well as an employer open day and interviews for potential paid work placements with employer partners.

The programme is built around a simple idea: moving forward does not always mean having everything figured out. Sometimes, it starts with having the right support, building confidence and being given the opportunity to see what is possible.

Through We Move Forward, Jamal Edwards Self Belief and BBC Children in Need are creating space for young people to develop practical skills, discover new opportunities and take meaningful steps towards their futures.

The programme is open to young people aged 16–21 who have the right to work in the UK.

We Move Forward is about helping young people move from where they are today towards where they want to be tomorrow.
