We were proud to host our second JESB Self Belief Open Day on Monday 24th March, this time in collaboration with ITV Studios, giving 31 young people aged 18 to 25 with barriers to employment an exclusive look at what it is really like to work in live television.

From sitting in the studio audience of Loose Women, to networking and meeting Producer’s JESB’s Chair, Brenda Edwards, attendees got to explore the fast paced world of UK Daytime TV firsthand.

This Open Day was all about access, education, and empowerment, designed to help young people break into the media space. It included a live studio experience, a Q&A with ITV team members, career and CV advice from ITV Studios Talent team and a chance to network with peers and professionals in the industry.

Here is what one attendee had to say:

“I was lucky enough to be given a place on the JESB Open Day which took place at ITV Studios. . My group were met by the team and got to hear a little more about the charity and its mission. This was followed by a look around the studios, it was a real peek behind the curtains! We joined the audience for a live recording of Loose Women which was great fun. The panelists were brilliant and entertained us with news and true life stories. Brenda Edwards spoke very emotively about what the charity meant to her and I was quite moved by her story. When the recording was finished there was an opportunity to take some photos sitting at the famous Loose Women desks. A great memory to take away from the day!

My personal highlight was when we had a question-and-answer session with the production and talent teams, and they gave us advice on how we can get into the TV business. We got to hear some of their personal journeys which gave me hope for a future in TV one day.

Over lunch, we spoke about networking opportunities and had a chance to get some advice on how to make our CVs look the best they can be. This was invaluable to me and I took on board some really good advice. The day went by so fast, but I feel we all learnt so much and I am very grateful to everyone who contributed their time to make this Open day such a success.

And to finish off the day, we even got a Loose Women themed goody bag to take home! Thanks TEAM JESB!”
